Est. 2014. Formerly Tauranga Exchange and Post Office (est. 1938): when the new Post Office opened it continued the postal history of the town which had started in 1859 when the first overland mail took 18 days to arrive. The reinforced concrete building is in the stripped classical style, with polished Hanmer marble at the base above which is ‘Climax’ plaster with white marble chips and powdered mica designed to catch the light. Art Deco motifs have been added and include fluting, wave motifs and flag staffs.
