A standard feature is the asymmetrical composition and bronze encased Corinthian columns which flank the front entrance to the building. The NZI Building was home to the first radio station in Tauranga, Radio 1ZD, which first broadcast on 25 February 1961, opening with ‘Hello Tauranga, this is 1ZD.’
